MetLife UK has paid out more than 27,000 accident and health claims to its individual protection customers in 2024.
The claims amounted to £27,058,980.32 and data shows an average of 108 accident and illness payments were paid every day.
The claims analysis also shows that more than 15,000 hospitalisation claims were paid, as well as 9,664 broken bone claims.
The insurer also approved 702 lifestyle claims, and 711 funeral benefit claims from non-accidental death.
It added that the claims paid out to cover hospital stays for sickness included common illnesses such as asthma and diabetes.
Dominic Grinstead, CEO of MetLife UK, said: “Supporting our customers and offering that much needed financial lifeline when times are tough is our number one priority.
“No one wants to think about having an accident or illness, but we want to make sure that if it does happen, we minimise any issues our customers face. At a time when people need to rest and recover, added financial stress can hinder and lengthen the recovery time.
“Our claims philosophy is built on trust that one day, when you really need it, we will deliver what you expect from us – to pay your claim in a timely manner, with no fuss and with an understanding of what has happened to you.
“Twenty-seven thousand claims paid in just one year is a huge number by the industry’s standards, and it makes me proud to say that we were there when our customers needed us.”
Good to see some protection statistics being posted for a change.
