Royal London has strengthened its protection team with two new hires.
Fiona Wynn has been appointed as head of protection proposition and Mark Preston as service delivery manager with responsibility for large cases.
Royal London said Wynn and Preston’s appointment “support plans for growth, particularly in the high net worth and business protection space”.
It added that the two hires also “bolster its support for advisers”.
Wynn was previously head of products at Legal and General within its retail protection division and brings with her a “strong background in end-to-end proposition development and customer engagement, including experience within reinsurance”.
Preston has worked with Aegon individual protection business and will transfer to Royal London later this year.
He has built up “specialist knowledge of medical and financial underwriting, using this to develop market-leading underwriting propositions”.
Wynn has already started her position at Royal London.
Royal London protection director Carrie Johnson said: “Mark and Fiona are excellent additions to our talented team.
“They’re both well-known and well-regarded in the protection industry.
“We have a clear ambition to continue to strengthen our position in the protection market and we welcome them both on board to help shape the future development of our value proposition.”
This news follows Royal London completing its acquisition of the later-life lending and product specialists Responsible Life and Responsible Lending (the Responsible Group).
The acquisition builds on Royal London’s existing 40% stake in the business and enables the company to increase support for the Responsible Group in delivering later-life solutions and scale the provision of later-life lending.
Founded in 2010, Responsible Group is a market-leading later-life mortgage broker and lender.
