Hargreaves Lansdown names former EY lead as chief operating officer

Hargreaves Lansdown has named Gary Logan as its chief operating officer.

Logan has been appointed to the role permanently after joining the business on an interim basis in March this year.

He is the former senior leader at EY, where he was a consulting partner leading its wealth and asset management transformation offering in the UK.

Hargreaves Lansdown chief executive Dan Olley said his “deep expertise” in financial services and delivering change in the sector has been “invaluable” to Hargreaves Lansdown and the operations teams over the past few months.

“He very quickly worked with the team to understand the key priorities and I look forward to seeing what they will achieve in the coming months,” Olley added.

“As we deliver our continuous improvement programme in customer service, making it easy for clients to save and invest for a better future, we are delighted that Gary will be leading this function on a permanent basis and continuing to drive this excellent progress.”

Logan said that, after several decades leading and consulting on a variety of transformation programmes in wealth and asset management, it is a “privilege” for him to have the opportunity to lead this transition for Hargreaves Lansdown.

Logan started his career as a chartered accountant with EY in the nineties, before moving into the asset-management industry, where he held roles across front, middle and back office. He is also a CFA charterholder.

In his words, he “boomeranged” back to EY 10 years ago, where he became a consulting partner, specialising in leading large-scale global transformation programmes for asset managers, wealth managers, asset servicers and alternative providers.
