The Association of Investment Companies (AIC) has elected Peter Hewitt to join its board and as non-executive director, following a members vote.
Hewitt is a non-executive director of Odyssean Investment Trust and has managed the CT Global Managed Portfolio Trust since it was launched in 2008. He joined Columbia Threadneedle through the acquisition of BMO GAM (EMEA) in 2021, having previously worked at BMO.
Prior to BMO, he spent two years as head of UK equities for Glasgow-based fund manager Murray Johnstone.
His appointment takes immediate effect following the AIC’s annual general meeting today (29 January).
AIC chair Gordon Humphries and AIC board member Alex Denny have both been re-elected. Chair of the audit committee and former chair of the nominations committee Susie Farnon has retired from the AIC board.
Humphries said: “I would like to congratulate Peter Hewitt on his appointment and warmly welcome him to the AIC board.
“Peter brings over 40 years of investment experience and a wealth of knowledge as a long-standing investment company manager to the board. His dedication and experience in investment companies will be invaluable to the board and I very much look forward to working with him.
“As Susie Farnon retires from the board, I would like to thank her for the significant contribution she has made to the AIC and the industry.”
Hewitt added: “As an experienced investor in investment companies for 25 years, a non-executive director of a successful investment company and part of an investment management group, I am well placed to champion the investment company industry.
“The AIC works tirelessly to represent the industry and I have seen first-hand their work to promote investment companies to investors. I am honoured to join the board and look forward to ensuring investment companies remain relevant and continue to deliver for all investors.”
